Across the country, something steady and hopeful is taking shape.
What began as a simple idea of placing a pocket Constitution into the hands of every eighth grader in the United States, has quickly grown into a true grassroots movement.
From small towns to major cities, Americans are stepping forward, raising their hands, and saying, “I’ll help.”
As of late July, nearly 80,000 pocket Constitutions have already been requested for eighth graders in over half of the states. The number keeps climbing.
This growing effort is a joint project of Convention of States Foundation and the 917 Society. It is building on a shared mission to bring the Constitution directly to America’s students. Together, they are equipping volunteers across the country to turn Constitution Day into a hands-on moment of learning.
That growth is not coming from a single office or a top-down effort. It is coming from people. Neighbors, parents, veterans, and local leaders are choosing to take part. Each request represents a classroom. Each classroom represents students who will soon hold in their hands the same document that has guided this nation for generations.
In New York State, one volunteer is showing just how powerful that commitment can be.
Jack Collins, a grassroots activist, has taken it upon himself to personally deliver 5,200 pocket Constitutions to schools in his area. That means thousands of students will not only receive a copy, but will see someone from their own community show up and say, “This matters.”
And Jack is not alone. In Montana, Sharon Jenson and Andrew Loftus will be delivering at least 2,500 Constitutions and 1,370 Constitutions respectively. In Massachusetts, volunteer David Wilder will be giving the gift of self-governance to 1,250 students.
Those are just a few examples.
From coast to coast, volunteers are reaching out to schools, coordinating deliveries, and preparing to step into classrooms. Some are working with teachers they already know. Others are making new connections, one phone call or email at a time.

What makes this campaign different is not just the scale, but the spirit behind it. This is not about checking a box or completing a task. It is about people choosing to invest in the next generation. It is about showing up in person and passing something on.
By the time Constitution Day arrives on September 17, thousands of classrooms will be part of this shared moment. Students in every corner of the country will receive the same small book on the same day, through the hands of someone who cared enough to deliver it.
One volunteer. One classroom. One Constitution at a time.
